Buyer guide · Real reference data
Custom tin box MOQ,
pricing and tooling.
A useful price comparison keeps the size, structure, quantity and finish together. This guide explains what Baoyue’s current 10,000-piece references show, what they do not prove, and when an existing mould or custom tooling route should be reviewed.
MOQ basics
MOQ belongs to a specification, not a generic promise.
The current Baoyue references used below are shown on a 10,000-piece or more order basis. That is useful qualification data for a buyer, but it is not a universal MOQ for every size, design or custom structure.
One artwork on an existing reference is a different production question from several artwork versions, a new special-shaped structure, a fitted insert or destination-specific packing. A quotation therefore needs the product, dimensions, quantity, artwork versions, finish and packing route together.
Reference prices
Compare size and structure before comparing price.
These four examples show why a pocket sliding tin, magnetic confectionery tin, tea canister and large mooncake tin cannot be compared by unit price alone.
| Current reference | Shown specification | Order basis | Buyer interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| BY-RT-013Sliding-lid candy tin | 86 × 32 × 23 mm RMB ¥1.80 per piece | 10,000+ pcs | Compact body and sliding closure. Confirm product clearance and repeated opening. Open reference ↗ |
| BY-RT-006Magnetic confectionery tin | 150 × 100 × 25 mm RMB ¥2.50 per piece | 10,000+ pcs | Magnet assembly, printed lid and insert fit affect the approved project. Open reference ↗ |
| BY-RD-019Round tea canister | 120 × 150 mm RMB ¥4.75–¥5.00 per piece | 10,000+ pcs | Finish changes the shown price; actual fill depends on tea density and inner pack. Open reference ↗ |
| BY-RT-021Large mooncake tin | 300 × 200 × 60 mm RMB ¥8.50 per piece | 10,000+ pcs | Insert, cake count, wrapped size and transport fit must be approved together. Open reference ↗ |
A lower reference price does not mean a better project fit. Select a structure from the measured contents and required opening, then compare the complete quotation.
Price drivers
Six decisions change the quotation.
Provide these facts early so the manufacturer can price the same project the buyer expects to approve.
Mould or tooling
Use an existing mould only when the pack actually fits.
An existing reference is a measured starting point. New tooling is considered when the usable space, proportion, opening or structural feature cannot be achieved with an available route.
- Existing reference
Compare usable space first
Check the product and inner-pack layout, formed corners, seams, lid engagement and removal clearance. Similar outside dimensions do not prove equivalent internal space.
- Custom tooling
Define what must be different
State the required dimensions or structural feature and why an existing reference does not work. Tooling feasibility, cost, sample route and timing are then confirmed for the design.
- Approval route
Test the complete pack
Approve the actual product, inner pack, insert, closure, artwork and shipping arrangement together before mass production.
Quote inputs
Send facts that can be priced.
A useful first enquiry does not need a finished design, but it should make unknowns visible.
Prepare the specification
Record product, dimensions, inner packing, shape, opening, artwork, quantity, market and required date.

MOQ and price questions, answered carefully.
These answers explain the quotation process without turning a reference listing into a blanket promise.
What is the MOQ for a custom tin box?
The current Baoyue references shown in this guide use a 10,000-piece order basis. The applicable MOQ must still be confirmed for the selected dimensions, structure, artwork versions, finish, packing and tooling route.
Does using an existing tin mould guarantee a lower MOQ?
No. An existing mould can remove one tooling decision when it fits the product and pack system, but MOQ still depends on the complete production specification and order configuration.
How much does a custom tin box cost?
Reference prices are useful only when tied to the shown size and order conditions. Final price depends on dimensions, structure, tinplate and coating system, printing, finish, insert, quantity, export packing, delivery terms and destination.
When is custom tooling needed for a tin box?
Custom tooling is considered when no existing reference provides the required usable internal space, proportion, opening or structural feature. Feasibility, tooling cost, sample route and timing are confirmed for the actual design.
What should a buyer send for an accurate tin box quotation?
Send the product and inner-pack dimensions, count per tin, preferred shape or reference, estimated quantity, artwork status, finish, insert needs, destination market and required date.
Ready for a project-specific answer?
Send the product, size and quantity.
Then compare the right tin.
Baoyue will review fit, existing references, tooling direction and the commercial basis against the actual project.
